Neo avant-garde is an art historical term coined in the 1960s, in a period that corresponds with Late Modernism or early postmodern art. The term refers to a supposed second wave of avant-garde art such as Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Nouveau réalisme, Neo-Dada and Fluxus.

En aquella época el arte adoptó toda forma del pasado y la recontextualizó. El collage, el fotomontaje cobran nueva vida y se adaptan para visibilizar el sentido de lo fragmentario y para romper con el metarrelato. Las neovanguardias son un alcance intertextual propio de la posmodernidad, son algunos de los aspectos artísticos que se adoptan en toda forma artística y el cine no se queda atrás.
