Is a well-established legal institution in Latin American civil law jurisdictions. In Mexico, Article 291 Bis of the Federal Civil Code defines concubinato as the relationship between a man and a woman who live together constantly and permanently for a period of at least two years, or less if they have children together, provided that both are free from legal impediments to marry.
